Updated Holiday Gathering Guidance:

Thanksgiving

The Department of Public Health has updated it’s holiday gathering recommendations and stated that it is best to stay home and celebrate only with people who live in your household. Connect with friends and family you don’t live with using all of the technology that allows us to see and hear each other from afar.

Other safe options include decorating your home inside and out and enjoying a drive around neighborhoods seeing others’ decorations. Please always think about your risk of being exposed in any situation – staying with only people you live with and visiting others virtually is the safest way to celebrate right now.

The fewer people you and your household have in-person contact with, the lower your risk of getting COVID19.  To stay up to date on the latest public health guidance, click here.

#HereForTheHolidays #LetsFeedLACounty

Hungry this Holiday

No one should go hungry, especially during Thanksgiving.  That’s why we are asking you today to help spread the word about L.A. County’s new #HereForTheHolidays food drive. Teaming with our nonprofit partner the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, we’ve set an ambitious goal of supporting 100,000 vulnerable families through New Year’s Day.

We’re making it easy for people who want to help feed their neighbors in need. With a single click, they can donate goods, time or money to assist households experiencing food insecurity. With Covid rates climbing again, those numbers will swell in coming months. County workers have already distributed nearly 3,000 tons of food at more than 50 drive-through events throughout the region. That’s nearly 5 million meals provided. But now we need your help to feed our most at-risk communities.

In the coming weeks, we will offer more resources and tips about how local government, businesses and residents can support the County’s food-relief efforts. As a first step, we are asking you to promote donation and volunteer opportunities through your website, socials, newsletters and other channels. You can access a social media toolkit here

#TheRiskIsReal

Risk is Real

When it comes to COVID-19, the risk is real—even for teens and young adults. The Joint Information Center’s #RiskIsReal campaign offers great visuals, videos and social media assets that highlight young student leaders and social media influencers spreading the word about playing it safe as the pandemic continues its deadly surge.

The latest participants in this grassroots messaging campaign are students from Franklin High School, pictured here covid19.lacounty.gov/risk as well as on 45 digital billboards across the County.

Please share content from our #RiskIsReal toolkit in your newsletters, websites and social media.

COVID-19 Safety Compliance Certification Program

Compliance

LA County is helping train businesses on the implementation of COVID-19 safety protocols through a no-cost online training course called the COVID-19 Safety Compliance Certification Program (CSCCP).

Once completed, business owners receive a certificate, and window seal to display on their storefront, which can reassure employees and customers alike that the business is following COVID-19 infection control and physical distancing requirements.

If you have not yet completed the CSCCP course or want to learn more about it, visit publichealth.lacounty.gov/eh/covid19cert.htm. Help support your employees, customers, and community while on the Road to Recovery.
