New Public Health Order
IMPORTANT UPDATE: the #SaferAtHome order has been extended through May 15. This is not because our collective efforts are not working. Physical distancing is helping & will keep working if we stick with it. Our 10 million residents make our County the best in the nation. While staying home, know that you’re doing it for all of us. We’ll come out of this stronger, smarter & most important of all, together.

LA County’s Public Health Officer has issued a new order to LA County residents and businesses. Today’s Order extends stipulations from previous Health Officer Orders through May 15, 2020, and highlights:
- Essential businesses are required to provide cloth face coverings to all employees, to wear while performing duties which involve contact w/other employees and/or the public;
- Essential businesses are required to post their physical distancing plans; and
- The public is required to wear a face covering to enter essential businesses
Today’s Order allows essential businesses to implement these new measures by April 15.

This program, called Critical Delivery Service, will deliver groceries, household items, and other vital necessities to LA County residents who are unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.What To Know:Items may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no cost to the clientNo application process is required (items must be pre-paid & ready for pickup)To schedule a delivery call 1-888-863-7411 (Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm)Service may be used up to four times or 40 miles/month, whichever comes first |
 Pets. The love between a human and their pet is unlike any other. If you are a pet owner, you know this well. In an effort to keep LA County residents and their pets healthy, we bring you the latest on what we know about COVID-19 and its effect on pets: There is no current evidence indicating that pets can transmit COVID-19 to humans or other pets. However, we urge you to treat your pet as you would another member of your family. If you are feeling sick, keep them away. See if another family member or friend can care for your pet while you’re healing. And if you’re not sick, keep your pet away from non-household humans and animals, as a precaution. It is possible (but rare) for dogs to be infected by COVID-19. Studies show that if they are infected, COVID-19 does not cause them to get sick. Cats are more easily infected by COVID-19, than dogs, and they seem to get mildly sick. The virus which causes COVID-19 enters a human’s “ACE2” receptor cells. Thus far, studies have shown that a cat’s ACE2 receptor cells are similar to that of humans – while a dog’s ACE2 cells are only about 70% similar. If you are not sick, practice good hygiene by washing your hands before & after handling your pet. Do not let your pet lick your face and hands, kiss them on the face or share food with them.
