ALTADENA RESIDENTS COME TOGETHER TO TEST OUT TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2023, 3-8PM, LOMA ALTA PARK, ALTADENA
With two pedestrian fatalities in 2022, traffic safety is top of mind for residents in Altadena, an unincorporated town of Los Angeles County. The Altadena Town Council’s Traffic Safety & Mobility Committee has been advocating for much-needed infrastructure improvements to improve safety for all road users.
The pop-up event focused on traffic safety, will be hosted by Altadena Town Council in partnership with Cal Walks during the Altadena Neighborhood Farmers Market on Friday, September 8th. Residents will experience a demonstration bike lane, bike valet, pop-up mini-park, and a curb extension while Committee volunteers gather input and feedback about the safety issues residents are experiencing and changes they would like to see in their neighborhoods.
“Altadena is a growing, diverse community with more people getting around by bike, walking, horseback riding and of course driving ,” says Altadena Town Council Representative Dorothy Wong, “however not all our streets are safe. We’ve had students struck by cars crossing the road to school, elderly residents unable to get out of their driveways due to speeding cars, and families who just want to ride or walk safely to the park. The purpose of this event is to bring awareness about traffic safety, gather residents’ feedback, and advocate for change with LA County.”
Community activities taking place during the Altadena Neighborhood Farmers Market include:
3-4pm: Free tennis clinic offered by Badon Tennis Academy
